About Jodi

Jodi Egerton has her Ph.D. in English from the University of Texas at Austin, where she served as the Assistant Director of the Division of Rhetoric and Writing and the Training Specialist at the Undergraduate Writing Center.

As a copywriter, ghostwriter, editor, and writing mentor, Jodi has worked with writers on genre and literary novels, YA and middle grade novels, memoirs, short story collections, and screenplays. She has written musician’s biographies, patient information for healthcare professionals, website copy, and training manuals. Clients love her encouraging and friendly approach to feedback.

She conducts workshops that combine improvisation games with writing exercises to energize writers and encourage breaking through writer’s block. She also teaches workshops on effective writing strategies; the nuts and bolts of clear, concise writing; and communication and team-building. Some of her clients include the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business, Acton MBA, Dell, and 3M.

During her years as an Assistant Professor of English Writing and Rhetoric at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, Jodi taught classes focusing on writing strategies for small businesses, social media writing, magazine writing, and tailoring writing for specific audiences. Jodi also mentored senior English Writing and Rhetoric majors while they were working as interns for local businesses and publications such as Texas Monthly and Austin Woman.

Jodi also works as a performer, and can be found on stages around Austin performing improv comedy and hosting fundraisers and auctions for schools and non-profit organizations.
